Why You Need To Be Here on 10 March 2018
Free for all
Free entry. Free parking. Free Wi-Fi (compliments of Dimension Data). How does that sound? Thought so.
It’s all about the vibe. And cow bells
We encourage you, dear spectator, to make as much noise as you can by cheering on your favourite riders as they barrel down the slew of gut-wrenching technical sections that underscore the Epic World Cup course. Someone say cow bells? Yes sir. Absa will be giving away 1300 hand-crafted limited-edition Qhubeka bells to keep the atmosphere full of energy and guarantee an Epic experience like no other, a proudly African World Cup. Get there early to avoid disappointment.
Pure theatre. Pure XCO
The Epic World Cup will raise the bar as far as immersive and interactive experiences go. With no fewer than five technical sections spread throughout the infamous and utterly beautiful Coetzenberg XCO course, fans are guaranteed an up-close-and-personal slice of the action – sitting behind the television at home is a thing of the past. Three of these sections will feature dedicated spectator points while a big screen, stationed at both the rock garden and start/finish area, will broadcast all of the live action ensuring you don’t miss a thing. Also located at the start/finish area in the race village is the grandstand, which offers a panoramic view of the lower slopes of the course.
So you want to meet a rock(garden) superstar?
As far as mountain biking royalty goes the Epic World Cup is the place to be. Everyone from world champions and Olympic medalists to national champs and Absa Cape Epic legends will feature across all categories on the day. Fancy a selfie, a chat or maybe even an autograph from such superstars as Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja, Nino Schurter, Julien Absalon or Manuel Fumic? Get there early and track down your favourite riders in the spectator friendly Team Tech Zone before the action starts. No special passes, no accreditation needed.
Thanks for the memories
Apart from the comprehensive expo in which you’ll be able to ogle, interact with and buy some of the latest bike products and gadgets, there’ll also be an on-site Absa Cape Epic Logo Store where a selection of Absa Cape Epic and UCI World Cup merchandise will be available for purchase.
