Travelling to South Africa

Clothing and Shoes

Ensure that you pack clothes for varying weather conditions. Some ideas include light-colored clothes, trousers and long-sleeved shirts to protect you from extreme weather, a cap to cover your head, sunglasses and comfortable footwear.

But don’t forget to dress to Impress

Bring your best outfits along with your chainsaws, clappers, vuvuzela’s and anything else you can think of that you’ll be able to use to cheer your hero’s home.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies

These include sunscreen lotions, a First Aid Kit, Bug repellant, lotion with no scent and headache tablets. Supplies can be bought in South Africa at affordable prices.

Photo Equipment

Cape Town is a beautiful city with many attraction sites. You will need photo equipment to capture amazing moments and beautiful features. Remember to bring cameras with the appropriate chargers when you visit the city. It is recommended that you carry both regular and water-resistant cameras. You should also avoid attracting attention when walking around with an expensive camera.

Power Adaptor

The power supply in South Africa may be different from that of your home country. This will make it necessary for you to have a power adapter to allow you to plug in and power your devices. If you cannot find the necessary power adapter where you live, you can look for one at the airport on arrival in South Africa.

The South African currency is Rand (ZAR). There are plenty ATM’s and currency exchange offices in South Africa, making cash easily accessible. Visa and Mastercard are excepted at most shops and restaurants

Average temperature in March

The height of summer (January and February) has passed, but there are plenty of warm and sun-filled days to enjoy. The average temperature is 21 degrees, but the weather has been known to reach as high as 25-30 degrees in the month of March.

Visa Requirements

If you’re travelling from outside of South Africa, you may be required to have a visa to travel into the country. You can find out more information through the South African Home Affairs page here: http://www.dha.gov.za/index.php/applying-for-sa-visa

Please note that it is the responsibility of the visitor to investigate visa requirements and to acquire the correct visa
